"One in eight women get breast cancer," Louis-Dreyfus tweeted. "Today, I'm the one."
Louis-Dreyfus, who has won Emmys for her roles on "Seinfeld" and "Veep" said she has a supportive family and friends and fantastic insurance.
"The bad news is not all women are lucky," Louis-Dreyfus tweeted. "So let's fight all cancers and make universal healthcare a reality."
William Louis-Dreyfus was known locally as a generous philanthropist and art-collector who gave away much of his fortune to needy organizations. He opened an art gallery in Mount Kisco that supported organizations like the Bedford Hills Free Library and the Horace Greeley Scholarship Fund.
He had moved to Bedford, in the early 2000s. He died in September 2016.
